Jason McAteer – Irish Soccer Legend, Television pundit, Media Personality and After Dinner Speaker
A well-known and well respected sports personality, Jason is a former Republic of Ireland International footballer and is best known for a stunning winning goal in Lansdowne Road against the Netherlands to earn his country qualification to the world cup in 2002.
A native of Birkenhead, England; he enjoyed a glittering football career representing clubs such as Bolton Wanderers, Liverpool, Blackburn Rovers, Sunderland and Tranmere Rovers.
Jason has a regular punditry role on Asia based ESPN Star Sports and has also performed a similar role with Al-Jazeera during the world cup of 2012. He has also made countless guest appearances on television shows such as Soccer AM, The Afternoon Show, The Daily Show, Anonymous with Jason Byrne and The Podge and Rodge Show.

He regularly appears for the Liverpool Legends football team in various charity games around the world and in 2005 Jason helped organize Tsunami Soccer Aid; an event which raised over half a million pounds for the worst affected areas of the disaster.
He has worked, in conjunction with JGA Sports Agency, on many projects including the Dublin Docklands Regeneration Programme and countless after dinner speaker events.
Jason’s international success saw him represent Ireland on 52 occasions, scoring 3 goals and appearing in two World Cups in 1994 and 2002.

His domestic achievements include winning two promotions and reaching a League Cup Final in 3 years with Bolton Wanderers, reaching an FA Cup Final in 1996 with Liverpool and winning promotion to the Premiership in 2001 with Blackburn Rovers. He followed up his successful playing career with a brief spell as Assistant Manager to John Barnes at Tranmere Rovers in 2009.
A natural people person and entertainer, Jason makes regular appearances as an after dinner speaker, captivating audiences up and down the country by recounting memories of his experiences throughout his illustrious career in football.
Jason is also widely remembered among the sporting community for his appearances in advertising campaigns for Head and Shoulders and Carlsberg. The former capturing the public’s imagination as he dreamed of scoring the winning goal for his country at the World Cup Finals.
