SSE Airtricity/SWAI Goalkeeper of the Year for 2016 is Cork City’s Mark McNulty
Dundalk manager Stephen Kenny was tonight revealed as the winner of the SSE Airtricity/Soccer Writers' Association of Ireland Personality of the Year award.
Kenny, 45, enjoyed a remarkable season in charge of the Lilywhites. The Dubliner led the County Louth club to their third title in a row and to the group stages of the Europa League. Kenny’s side also made it to the FAI Cup final but were beaten 1-0 in extra-time by Cork City.
The FAI have announced that the Republic of Ireland is to host the UEFA European Under 17 Championship Finals in 2019.
The 16-nation tournament marks a huge stepping stone for the FAI’s co-hosting of UEFA EURO 2020, as well as reinforcing Ireland’s growing reputation of running major international football tournaments.
Cork City defender Alan Bennett has been named the SSE Airtricity/Soccer Writers’ Association of Ireland Player of the Month for November. Bennett was presented with the monthly award today by Cork City Manager John Caulfield.
The defender put in a towering performance at the heart of the City defence in the FAI Cup final against Dundalk as John Caulfield’s side won the showpiece 1-0 with an extra-time goal from Seán Maguire. Bennett insisted winning this award capped off the perfect end to the season – even if he only did play one game in November.

Dundalk midfielder Daryl Horgan has been named the SSE Airtricity/Soccer Writers’ Association of Ireland Player of the Month for September. It is the fourth time that Horgan has won the monthly award which was presented to him today by Anne McAreavey from SSE Airtricity.
Four members of Stephen Kenny’s squad, including Horgan, have now won an award this season and the Galway man was thrilled to come out on top in the voting. “It’s great to win another one,” insisted Horgan.
Set to be the largest ever in the capital and the 4th largest in Europe this year the SSE Airtricity Dublin Marathon is proving to be a huge success. The event takes place on October 30th this year and will see over 19,000 people take part.
Dundalk midfielder Robbie Benson has been named the SSE Airtricity/Soccer Writers’ Association of Ireland Player of the Month for August. It is the first time that Benson has won the monthly award which was presented to him today in Oriel Park.
