A well respected and very popular sports personality, Richard is a former Republic of Ireland International footballer and is best known for his fearless on-pitch displays, adored by Irish fans he was branded the “iron curtain”.
Born in Tallaght, Dublin; Richard has always been a proud Irishman. He enjoyed a magnificent professional career spanning nearly two decades, at numerous premier league clubs in England.
Richard made his debut on tv3’s UEFA Champions league punditry team last year and has been admired for his honest opinions on the soccer world today.

A footballing centre half, Richard played Premiership football for Everton, Aston Villa, Queens Park Rangers while captaining Manchester City between 2006 and 2009 and receiving City’s Player of The Year award for a record four times.
He has won promotion to the Premier League on two occasions with Queens Park Rangers and Manchester City, prevailing as Football League Championship Winners under Kevin Keegan.
Richard won 80 caps for the Republic of Ireland, scoring 8 goals in the process.
He was a part of the 2002 FIFA World Cup squad and scored in a 2012 UEFA European Qualifier match against Armenia to gain a play-off spot versus Estonia. He played in all three of Ireland’s subsequent group games at UEFA Euro 2012.
